I don’t know how to write goodbye letters or where to even start on things like this. For people that don’t know me, my real name is Alejandra, but people call my Handi (Hahn-Dee). I’m not the greatest at describing myself. I do know that inside all this weirdness and craziness, I like to try to have a good laugh and see the best in every situation. I bust out my dance moves and love Wasabi. I also love to listen to “Is It a Crime” by Sade (it’s on repeat), and the way I dress changes everyday.

Now on to what I meant to write about: high school, oh high school. First things first: high school is going to suck. BUT it’s going to be such an adventure: full of crying and laughter and other emotions that seem completely indescribable.

High school lead me to a few great things that I never want to forget. Friends that always put a smile on my face and give me a good laugh. Love: meeting that significant other and teaching me things from the relationship and me as a person. Procrastination: how everyone managed to do everything at the last minute and because of that everyone could relate to not meeting a deadline. It was a bonding experience in how stressed it made us. Sports were one of the best things AND worst things you could do, because as much as you hated going everyday you loved being with your friends and being active.

And lastly, learning to just being yourself was probably the most important thing I learned. Many people just don’t really want to be themselves. Some people, especially younger kids, are afraid of what others are going to think. It’s okay to wear that crazy shirt that you bought. Just wear it! It’s okay if you have abnormal taste in music or have piercings or even dress a little different than others. It’s OKAY. As cheesy as it sounds, just be you and be happy.

I know life is messed up and people are just, very judgmental, but let me tell you why people judge. It’s because people are boring and bored of themselves. That’s why you see people doing what they are doing, like people watching movies, BORING or people going to the park BORING or or people who smoke, BORING. People do things in this world because they want excitement in their life. Most of the time you don’t have to do much if you look for it in the right places, you don’t always have to do something huge. Yeah, you do see those other people who are climbing a mountain, or traveling the world with a backpack, or who knows what other crazy stuff that we all just dream about. Just take advantage of what you have instead of wishing for something that you don’t have, who knows, life can change in the blink of an eye.

What I’m trying to say is: don’t stress about how you look or if you “fit in.”Clothes and music are not important, life is more than looking “good”.. Just enjoy life and be happy, whatever that happy is. All we can really do is enjoy what little time we have in high school before heading out into the real world.

-Sincerely
