Everyone’s heard of the Goshen High School musical. The fall play is common knowledge. But almost no one knows about the third GHS theatre performance: One Acts.

“[One Acts are] an annual event, where juniors and seniors choose a one act play that they would like to direct and present for the school,” says Mrs. Susan Long, the drama club teacher. “It’s been a tradition for many years, maybe even up to twenty years.”

Danielle Horn, junior, is directing the one act “The Fence,” about the hilarity that comes from the problems in relationships.

“I wanted to direct because I wanted to provide some leadership for when I graduate,” Horn said. “I know one of the biggest parts of my freshman year was all of the seniors really encouraging the underclassmen which has made me want to continue with theater. So I wanted to take what I learned and give it to freshmen and sophomores so when I leave they can continue to grow and continue to inspire other kids.”

“The Fence” stars Andres Ledesma, Irish Cortez, Benjamin Yonts, and Lilly Atkinson, all sophomores.

“I wanted to do something with underclassmen only because upperclassmen can audition, but I really wanted to focus my attention on up and coming students,” Horn said. “I also wanted to do something that I haven’t done before, and one of those things was a comedy play, and so I picked something with four sophomores and it’s a comedy!”

The One Acts performance also features the plays “Form 27b,” codirected by Anthony Beatriz and Adrianna Martinez, seniors; “Bad Auditions by Bad Actors,” codirected by April Polluck and Montce Martinez, juniors; “The Tell Tale Teacher,” directed by Jayson Margush, junior; “Splinter,’ directed by Haley Kirkton, senior; and “Post Its (Notes on a Marriage),” codirected by Danielle Horn, junior, and Matthew Ambrosen, senior.

The performances are on Thursday May 10th and Friday May 11th at 7:30 p.m.
