In total, there are ten student directors this year: Montce Martinez, April Pollock, Eliana Spitler, Irish Cortez, Sophia Sherril, Benji Wall, Chris Guzman, Lilly Atkinson, Pria Sommers and Colin Judson.

The role of the mother giving birth is played by Chloe Diaz, (junior), Isabella Schleining (sophomore) is the doctor, Jocsan Barahona (sophomore) is the baby, and Lucy Kramer (sophomore) is the supportive husband.

Chris Hall (sophomore) is the birthing mother, Alanis Laguerre (freshman) is the doctor, Sam Smith is the baby, and Lexi Schwartz (freshman) is the husband.

In total, over both days, there was a total of 21 people who auditioned and all of them got casted in one or more plays. An English teacher here at GHS, Paige Pobocik, is the new sponsor for one acts this year. It is her first year as a sponsor but she has been involved with one acts previous to her teaching career.
“I was in one acts my junior and senior year here and I really loved it and it’s kind of what made me want to minor in theatre at college” said Pobocik.
“They can kind of explore whether or not this is something they’re interested in without all of that energy in the high stakes for fall play and musical.”
One acts is a lot smaller than the other productions of plays/musicals here at GHS, so it is a little less stressful. Students don’t have to dedicate that much time and commitment compared to the others.
April Pollock, a Goshen High School senior, has been involved with one acts for all four years of her high school career and this is her second time directing.
“Directors learn what it takes to direct and all of the responsibilities of a director while an actor gets to experience being under the direction of a different person” she said.
“The main thing I tell someone when they say they want to get involved in any of the theatrical productions here is to go for it.”
One acts casting is now over but if you think you want to be involved with one acts next year then you really have nothing to lose! There is no set date for the performances yet but make sure to stay tuned!
